  Was washed overboard, body never recovered. [2] One account, confirmed by a crew member aboard the D2 submarine George Arthur Jameson commanded, is that while standing on the conning tower of the submarine while a GERMAN submarine was in the area whose presence was not known by Captain Jameson. Apparently someone on the GERMAN submarine shot Captain Jameson dead and he fell overboard and that only Captain Jameson's great coat was ever recovered and that it had a bullet hole on it.
