 Affidavit by John J. Jameson of 1900

  The State of Tennessee, County of Davidson}  On this the 7th day of December 1900 personally appeared before me, the undersigned officer, before whome this affidavit is made, John J. Jameson, who after being duly sworn on oath deposes & says, Green B. Jameson, who was killed at the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas, was my uncle. I was not personally acquainted with him but my mother was & from her & from other of the heirs of Green B. Jameson & from the Bible records in my possession, I am acquainted with the family history. Green B. Jameson’s father was William Jameson. His said father & also his mother is long since dead. His mother died first & afterwards his father died. William Jameson had Eight children. Four brothers & Four sisters. Willis Lea Jameson was my father. Green B. Jameson, Christifer Jameson, Destings Jameson & Julia Ann Jameson all died leaving no issue & all died having never married except - Julia Ann. Julia Ann married but her husband died before she did & she afterwards died both leaving no issue. My father Willis Lea Jameson was born between 1790 & 1800 & died in Parris, Henry County Tennessee March 31st 1853. My mother died before my father died. My father had born to him the following named children, to wit.: Willis Lea, W. A., Marthia, Zacharah T., Mary, Granville T., C.G., John J., James M., & H.C. Jameson. The first five of my father’s children died having never married and without issue. My brother Granville T. Jameson married and had the following named children, who survives him, to wit.: Harry G. Jameson, Georgia Jameson & Jessie Jameson. Harry & Georgia Jameson & Jessie are now living at Columbus, Texas. Also the wife of said Granville T. Jameson is now living at Columbus, Texas & is named Ellen Manor, a fem sole. Georgia Jameson is still a single woman. Jessie Jameson married C.M. Bailey with whom she is now living. C.G. Jameson, one of my brothers, married and died three or four years ago leaving surviving him no children but left surviving him his said wife, Mary Jane. His said wife, after his death, married one J.T. Howell with whom she is now living in Davidson County, Tennessee. James M. Jameson married & afterwards died leaving the following named children, to wit.: James G. Jameson, John H. Jameson, & Katie Jameson all of whom are now living, James G. Jameson at Cedar Hill, Tennessee, John H. Jameson at Nashville, Tennessee, & Katie Jameson at Cincinnati, Ohio. The wife of said James M. Jameson died prior to the death of said James M. Jameson, said Katie Jameson still a single woman. My brother H.C. Jameson married & afterwards died leaving no issue, but his wife survived him, who after his death married one Nash with whom she is now living at Cincinnati, Ohio. My aunt Mary married one Nuckles. Both she & her husband died leaving children who had obtained their interest in the Green B. Jameson estate in Texas. Gillie Ann Jameson married her cousin by the same name. They are both dead leaving surviving them the following named children, to wit.: Berthair, Berlavista, Berjerome, Berrilla & Bertran Jameson. The first three of these died when smallĀ  neither having ever married or left surviving them any children. Bertran Jameson is now living at Decatur, Illinois. Berrilla Jameson married one Sidney Ensor. He died & afterward she died leaving surviving them the following named children, to wit.: Laura, Annie, F. Ransford Ensor. Said Laura Ensor married one Martin, & he afterwards died & she then married one Dawes & he afterwards died. She the said Laura is now a feme sole & living in Millwood Missouri. Said Annie Ensor married one George Roberts. They are both now living at Millwood Missouri. Said F. Ransford Ensor married & both he & his wife is dead leaving the following named children, to wit: Stella, Ella, & Annie. Said Stella married one Sterling P. Mudd & they are both living at Millwood Missouri. Louisa Howell married one Howell. They are both dead leaving only the following named children surviving them, to wit.: Lemon B. & Mary S. Howell. Lemon B. Howell married & afterwards died leaving his wife Fannie Howell & his two minor children, Roy & Lee Howell. Said Mary Howell first married one Thornhill, & he afterwards died, & then she married one Rogers, & he afterwards died, leaving surviving him his said wife, Mary. Mary S. Rogers is now living at St. Louis Missouri & Also said Fannie Howell & her two minor children are living at St. Louis Missouri. I am familiar with my father’s descendants named above, & I know the facts stated above by family tradition, from Bible records & from what older members of my family have told & written me.
